ivtv invalud argument,cant open capture device


Hi all

ive been trying for the last 5 days to tune mythtv om my Ubuntu machine with no sucsses. since i live in a non epg ready county i need to tune the channels manually. since mythtv dosent have that option i try using other programs to do this (mainly tvtime). but i cant use it. every time i try to scan channels i get this error:

ivtv invalud argument,cant open capture device /dev/video0

I did btw make sure i exited myth tv before i tried it.becasue of this i cant use mythTv at all! can anyone help me?

I'll ask the obvious questions. What type capture card? What does "ls /dev/video*" show? Can you capture with "mplayer -vo xv /dev/video0" or does "cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test.mpg" produce a file with size greater than zero, and if so, can you view it with xine or mplayer? What does "ivtvctl -a" show?

hi

Thx for the reply. i have a win tv pvr 150. ls /dev/video shows /de/video0. also i can capture with cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test.mpg and it workes fine.
