Cool Is Posible Install Enterprise Red Hat 4.6 (X86_64) on Itanium (ia64)?


I have install Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4.6 on Itanium (ia64), but i need execute some files that be compiled on Red Hat 4.6 (X86_64), How to emule or install OERH 4.6 on this Hardware?

What?

No, ia64 and x86_64 are completely different you cannot install one on the other. You MIGHT be able to unstall the correct version then run VMWare or another virtual machine solution and install the other version on a VM.

Actually, pre-2006 Itanium processors provided hardware support for x86 code. However, performance was absolutely abysmal (software emulation was faster), and I don't think x86_64 was even supported.

So yeah, use the ia64 version and an emulator.

Why not just recompile the apps on the ia64 and run them natively?
