IP address dissapears every so often!

So I am using backtrack 5 as a virtualbox guest OS. I am trying to attack two servers I have as other guest distros. They are both windows server 2008. One is "hardened", it has all its updates, unnecessary services have been shut off etc etc. The other is a freshly installed copy with no customization other than a password.
On backtrack 5 my eth0 adapter (All guest OS's are on an internal network) does not show an IPv4 address unless I assign it with
Code:
 ifconfig eth0 10.0.2.15
but after a little while, usually 5 - 10 minutes, it goes away. If I type
Code:
 ifconfig
It shows an IPv6 address, but no IPv4.

How do I set this address as static?

I'm not sure if it helps, but what about setting the network options more completely?
Code:
ifconfig eth0 1.2.3.4 netmask 255.255.255.0
Or even editing some specific config file, where your distribution keeps all settings, and then restarting the network/rebooting.

BT is based on ubuntu which is based on debian.
Here is an example: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/setting...terfaces-file/
In short, edit your /etc/network/interfaces
