IP Address


I am using Redhat 8 and I am trying to figure out what my ip address is, does anyone know how I figure out what my IP Address is?

netstat -r

will give you the kernels routing table.

are you behind a router, cable modem, or regular modem?

Type /sbin/ifconfig to see network configuration. You want to look for the "inet addr" listed for the eth0 device if you have a broadband connection using an ethernet NIC.

I thank you guys for the info, now I have another couple of questions if anyone knows. I installed the newest version of AIM on my system, when I log in my buddy list pops up and closes just as quick as it opened, does anyone know why and/or how to fix it? I no one knows how to fix it, does anyone know how to uninstall it so I can try a lower version to see if it works?
