"Invalid parameters" when trying to install smartcam

I followed the instructions here

but I get this:
Code:
skykooler@skykooler-desktop:~/Downloads/smartcam/smartcam/src/driver$ sudo insmod smartcam.ko
insmod: error inserting 'smartcam.ko': -1 Invalid parameters
Anybody know how to fix this?

The reason I am compiling from scratch is that the .deb gives me a segmentation fault. I don''t know what's causing that, either.

I was about to follow up and help you, until I clicked on the link. The problem you are experiencing is in that forum. I suggest you read over the posts and come back here and ask questions if you are stuck.

I had the same problem they had on that thread, where I got:
Code:
insmod: error inserting 'smartcam.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module
so I did
Quote:
Code:
sudo /sbin/modprobe videodev
then inside /smartcam/src/driver

run as root

Code:
sudo /sbin/insmod smartcam.ko
and now I get the error mentioned. No one else in that thread got the "Invalid parameters" error so I am at a loss as to what to do to fix this.

I have 2008.09.18.2. Is there a newer version somewhere?
