interface speed duplex setting

I am running Red Hat 7.1 kernel 2.4.20. How can I get the current speed/duplex of my eth2 interface? The switch it is connected to is 100/full but the eth2 infc is logging many TX errors (below). I think it is 100/half, but the networks script has this (below, below) in it....

[root@host network-scripts]# netstat -i
Kernel Interface table
Iface MTU Met RX-OK RX-ERR RX-DRP RX-OVR TX-OK TX-ERR TX-DRP TX-OVR Flg
eth0 1500 013379582 0 0 0 9072290 0 0 0 BMRU
eth1 1500 019813392 0 0 0 6633275 0 0 0 BMRU
eth2 1500 013881368 0 0 0 8437309 1040339 0 0 BMRU

[root@host network-scripts]#

[root@host network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-eth2

ETHTOOL_OPTS="speed 100 duplex full autoneg off"

Thanks!!! I found that it was in fact 100 half, even though it should be 100 full.

If you use ethtool to change the parameters, is it a permanent change, or will you need to set it again after a reboot?

Good question. I barely reboot our linux boxes at work but if you reboot and the interface speed is back to 100 HD, then you can just write a script in /etc/rc.local or whatever to set it to 100 FULL at boot time.
