Hi, forgive my noobiness, but I just downloaded the linux ut2004 demo, and have not got a clue how to install it. If I click on it it opens in KWrite, and have tried using chmod + x ut2004-lnx-demo3334.run but says it cannot find the file specified. I saved it to my desktop, don't think I know how to redirect console to it lol.
Help please!!!
Try ./ut2004-lnx-demo3334.run from the same location as the file. If you don't type the dot and the slash first, it probably won't run unless the directory containing your program is in your PATH variable.
Also, make sure there is no space between the + and the x in your chmod command. So type chmod +x ut2004-lnx-demo3334.run.
If you are using Konsole or another program, such as xterm, type cd ~/Desktop to get to the desktop directory first.
Hi, I got it all installed properly thanks, worked like a dream. However now whenever I open the file to run the demo, it shows the loading screen then just stops.
Is there some kind of error, or do I need other things installed? I don't have my ATi drivers installed, but that shouldn't be a problem. What do I do now? lol
thanks for reply
I can't really help with that. It could be a defective program. It could be you need libraries that are either not installed or not located where the program expects them to be. Without error messages, it is difficult to diagnose a problem.
