Installing Mint 21.3 (Cinnamon) from .ISO

Guys/Gals,

Yesterday morning, I installed the subject .iso on my laptop, overwriting an existing installation of the same OS, created via Update Manager.

My rationale was to install a clean OS, not polluted by user-generated mods.

When I rebooted (several times), I was presented with a GRUB menu, and boot options.

The OS appeared to be working, but only upon selecting a boot option.

What did I do wrong? ops:

What makes you think you did anything wrong?

Heretofore, my OS always booted to the Login screen.

Apparently when you installed previously, the bootloader was configured to wait 0 seconds for you to make a boot menu selection, meaning display of the selection menu should be skipped. This time, a more conventional non-zero wait time was applied. The wait time on most Gnu/Linux installations is established via /etc/default/grub by GRUB_TIMEOUT=. This includes Linux Mint. Editing this file does not immediately take effect. /boot/grub/grub.cfg will incorporate the new value when it is next regenerated.

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, for me, your recommended solution is above my pay grade, so I have re-installed my previous backup.
