Installing Mandrake's OpenOffice 1.1.3 in another distro

I am a Gentoo user, (I have already enquired on Gentoo forums). I have a spare partition which I use to try out other distros.

I recently loaded Mandrake CE10.1, and despite the bad press I was impressed. It seems quicker than previous attempts, but what really stood out was the OpenOffice build, which was quick and pretty. Yes, that's right, it looked great!

I tried copying over the OOo build into my Gentoo system, both to /opt/openoffice and /usr/lib/openoffice which is what Mandrake uses. Either way, it runs, the only problem is that the help system does not work. The contents bar comes up on the left, but the info does not appear on the right! It all works fine within Mandrake!

I am wondering whether it is because Java is not correctly found, because the help seems to be in "jar" files.

Does anyone know how to get the Mandrake OOo help system working in a "foreign" linux? It is just so much more pleasant to use than the bog-standard version...
