installing gnome icons manually

i downloaded the noia icon file from art.gnome.org and if i try to install it, it doesn't show up in the installed icon list. i've been trying to installing it manually, but if i copy the extracted dir to the ~/.themes directory and edit a theme file to use the icons, gnome crashes.

any help?

You should look for a map called "pixmaps". Add all download icons in there and they should appear in your icon list...
