Question Installing & running a Logitech web-cam

g'day,
been trying for a while to get the logitech usb quick-cam drivers installed and running. i tried from source but it needed something called xawtv which i dont think installs on the fedora distros of today and the 2nd was through certain rpms at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...kage_id=177027 but after installing the latest FC5 drivers i still cant get any output from the webcam in my mesenger ( mercury ). mercury says it is scanning for webcams and the output is
Quote:
Looking for video capture devices...
- Finished detecting V4LAuto classes.
Starting detected classes... (This might take some time)
- Done.

There are no video capture devices present.
i am unsure on how to continue. any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure your QuickCam is supported by the driver? There are only a few QuickCams which actually work under Linux.

I have a Logitech Pro 3000 and what i did was get the pwc driver and used that as my webcam driver.

Afterwards i was able to use it using gnomemeeting in my fc2

maybe if you try the same path you can get it to work

Make sure you get the pwc driver from here and don't try to use the one in the kernel. It doesn't work with most webcams.

As I said in my previous posts, the pwc drivers work decently, at least with the two Logitech web cams I've got. Did you try that driver?
