Unhappy installation help

I keep getting an error when trying to install Red Hat 9. The error is something to the tune of "no hard drive device found to install system files". Any clue as to what I can do to fix this? I have a Maxtor 6Y08oMo if that happens to have anything to do with it, Thanks for any help.

Very concerning. I assume you've tried this hard drive with some other operating system?

Hello there. This hard drive you're using, is it connected to a non-standard IDE controller? If you have a S-ATA controller or some other new or poorly documented device it might be a bit tricky to install.
When you installed Windows on this machine, did you have to provide a floppy to force Windows to recognize the hard drive(s)?

If the installer allows you to launch a shell it would be pretty good if you could post a full dmesg output. It usually helps a lot.
