Cool Install software in GTK2 format under Linux Mint

There is an awesome piece of software I want to have but it is not available under repository.

"sudo install" will not do the job

however, it is available from the website in GTK2 format

How do I install it under Mint?

Thanks a lot.

It is this one

GTK2 format: You means uses GTK+2 libraries. Install it and see if it works. Make sure it doesn't overwrites anything important (files). Install any neccessay dependencies as required from official repository.

the mozilla browser seamonkey
is a self contained tarball

there is NO needed extra software

I have been using it for YEARS!!!!

and there also is no such thing as "GTK2 format"

the CURRENT stable mozilla browser is here
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla....releases/2.33/

all that gtk part in the name on the download link is that it uses the older gtk2 engine
( The Gimp ToolKit 2 -- gtk2 )
and not the gtk3 version that gnome3 uses

the 64 bit version that uses the 64 bit plugins ( NOT!!!! the 32 bit ones in /usr/lib/? )
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla..../2.33/contrib/

You gave me just the right answer, John. All I have to do, is unzip and run it!

about the only problem might be it not auto finding the firefox plugins
/usr/lib64/browser-plugins
-- or a name like that , different distros use different names
you might have to copy or link that folder to a "plugins" folder in the seamonkey folder
