cd firefox-0.9.1-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.
but then the console sais : bash: cd: firefox-0.9.1-i686-linux-gtk2+xft: No such file or directory
.i'm using mandrake 10.
Sorry, acid_kewpie. I should have checked it before posting. I knew that 'tar -x -f -z -v <filename>' wouldn't work (just the way getopt_long works), but didn't know about this one.

i have already provided what i would interpret to be corrected versions of the commands you are attempting to run. if they do not work, paste REAL error messages that each commands provide.
[h4x0r3d@localhost h4x0r3d]$ cd /home/h4x0r3d/Desktop
[h4x0r3d@localhost Desktop]$ tar xfzv firefox-0.9.1-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz
this goes like it should go.
[h4x0r3d@localhost Desktop]$ cd firefox-0.9.1-i686-linux-gtk2+xft
bash: cd: firefox-0.9.1-i686-linux-gtk2+xft: No such file or directory
[h4x0r3d@localhost Desktop]$
