Install kernel not "booting"

I am trying to install RedHat, but I seem to have a problem with some if not all 2.4.x install kernels.

When I try booting from the CD (or floppy disk) it always hangs after the message:

Uncompressing linux.. booting the kernel

The description of my computer:

Pentium 4 Northwood2 2.4GHz
512 MB DDR-RAM (PC2700)
Chaintech APOGEE 9EJL1 Motherboard
ASUS V9280 - GeForce 4 TI-4200
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2
Seagate Barracuda V ST3120023A
M$ IntelliMouse Explorer 3 (USB)
LiteOn 16xDVD/48xCD-ROM IDE

Any help deeply appreciated.

i am not sure but i think that you have a checksum or crc error in the kernel(ie the kernel in both floppy/cd are damaged),try with some other kernels.
