Hello. I have inkscape version 0.48.1-i586-1vl70 installed (from a Vector Linux package, VL-7.0). I have been trying to follow the tutorial entitled "
A Tracing Example", but for some reason the Trace Bitmap additional option of "suppress speckles" did not work as it said it should in the tutorial. Note the included screenshot that shows the speckles are still present despite ensuring "Suppress speckles box is checked and set the Size to 50". I even tried setting it to a size of 1000, and there was no difference. I did ensure that the image was properly selected, and the Update button worked on other functions, but not the suppress speckles option.
