in FC4, some mountpoints show up on the desktop, but not others
I have Fedora Core 4 (2.6.11-1) installed. I've created several mountpoints to the various NTFS Windows partitions. I can access all of these Windows partitions through the mountpoints. However, only one of these mountpoints show up on the desktop (i.e. there is an icon for it, just like there is an icon for the cdrom when you pop in a CD). All of these mountpoints uses the same options. One of the mountpoints is shown below:
/dev/hda1 /media/winxp ntfs ro,umask=0222 0 0
Now, it just bugs me not knowing why this happens. Any idea?

Just add the others:
Right Click on Desktop -> Make New -> Shortcut:
/dev/hda2 /media/winxp ntfs ro,umask=0222 0 0
Right Click on Desktop -> Make New -> Shortcut:
/dev/hda3 /media/winxp ntfs ro,umask=0222 0 0
Right Click on Desktop -> Make New -> Shortcut:
/dev/hda4 /media/winxp ntfs ro,umask=0222 0 0

I'm using GNOME in FC4 and there is NO Make New -> Shortcut when I right-clicked on the Desktop.

I'm not in gmone now, and I don't remeber how gnome calls their control panel in English, but it should not be difficult to find in the footprint menu. In there, if I remember correctly, you define for each device individually whether or not to display the icon on the desktop.
On my system its a big deal to shut down KDE, fire up gnome, change the system language, restart gnome, check, and then do everything backwards...
