Ok, I realize this will probably sound pretty thick but I just don't see it so I'm going to ask it anyway.

In an attempt to increase my squirrelmail performance I've just installed up-imapproxy. After sorting out the dependencies it installed ok. I've edited the conf file and am now wondering "now what"

It doesn't show up when I do a ps-aux|grep imap, it's created an empty logfile. I've tried starting it up manually via /usr/local/sbin/in.imapproxyd, doesn't seem to do anything. In a desperate attempt I've even rebooted the system.

Can anyone tell me which extremely obvious fact I'm overlooking? Does anyone know of documentation on squirrelmail and an imapproxy? TIA!

Oops, looks like I got it, it logs to maillog and there I discovered that it was fighting for port 143 with the imap server. Switched the proxy to 144 and set squirrel to 144, seems to work now.

Still, any docs on the subject are apprieciated.
