If I compile from source on 64 bit system will the compiled program be 64 bit?

Pretty much what the subject/title asks. I downloaded the latest source of wget and the compile went fine. But before I remove the 64 bit version of wget that came with Fedora 16 x64 I want to know if the version I compiled is 64 bit. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, so simple. Now why didn't I think of that? Brilliant! Thanks, Tinkster. That gets you "yes" vote for "Was this post helpful?".
Here's the output of "file wget" as run in the src directory where the binary was compiled:

wget: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, not stripped

Thanks again!
