How to update gnome


My os is Mandriva Linux.GNOME 2.12 is released.I want to update gnome to 2.12.
I download all tarballs.But how to update it? I Konw gargnome.But it doesn't work.
I have configed the gar.gnome.mk file.When I type make install,gargnome try to connect ftp.gnome.org,and time out.

i wouldn't suggest compiling it yourself, just wait a week or so and there should be prebuilt rpm's for it available for your distro on cooker or such like.
