How to Split root partition

I am using Windows2000(20GB) and Suse9.1(20GB). Unfortunately for Linux i have only root partition of abt 18 GB. I want to split into two so that i can have home partition. My root partition is reiserfs.
How can I do this. I tried with booting process. I put 1st CD, but it gets stuck in the middle.
Please help
TIA

you can do this by using either something quite high level like qtparted, or a low level, more direct approach like resize_reiserfs, which you've probaby already got installed as you're already on reiserfs. qtparted should do the whole lot for you with a single mouse click, but the lower level approach should be much more reliable if you believe you know what you're doing.
