please help me to find a solution.

I'm a student in chinese. Then I look a television transmission from a chinese website. These website let see they transmission with a realplayer (.rm) file. Then I read it with realplayer.

BUT, sometimes I need to record a transmission and I saw that realplayer not allow it.

Then, could you tell me how can I do it ?

You can use mplayer to record a transmission, using the -dumpstream option. you actually need the rm file not the usual link to the file. The links are text files that you can open and see the actual file need in there.

mplayer -dumpstream rtsp://site/directory/file.rm

you can use a fair few programs, personally i'd use mplayer to stream it, and use the -dumpstream option to save it to a file. see mplayer manpage for more details about dumping streams

Previously I used kaffeine to read this (rm) television transmission but I saw I had some refreshing problems. Then that's why I used the original (rm player) realplayer. I hope I will not use the same problems with mplayer.

But let me ask you 2 questions.

1) If I use the -dump... option it seems I will always record what I see. Or I'm interresting to just be able to choose to record when I want and stop it in the same conditions.

2) do you know if these option also exist with realplayer ? I will try to see if there is a man page or something else.

this can't be done within realplayer, and that is totally by design. MPlayer can only do this because they are not officially licensed to use realplayer codecs, so do not conform to Real's user agreements.

I must try but I think in fact I can do it with KMPlayer.
