Try "rpmbuild --rebuild foo.src.rpm".

To run an rpm file in mandriva using konsole you can just type:
Code:
rpm -iv rpm filename here
But with Mandriva you don't even have to do that you can just double click it and it automatically runs that file with the software installer. I think Mandriva is based on Redhat so it might work the same way.

1. install the source rpm
rpm -ivh rpmname.src.rpm
2. go to the SPEC directory (/usr/src/redhat/SPECS)
rpmbuild -ba rpmname.spec
try understanding the spec. that will help u learning rpm technology
3. then if there are no dependendies, the rpm gets built .
4. go to the binary directory, /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 or noarch or etc...
5. rpm -ivh rpmname-i386.rpm
6.you have installed.....
7. Make sure u delete the /usr/src/redhat/BUILD contents. it will free ur disk usage

You can delete them manually.

The command for delete is rm. If it's an entire directory you want to get rid of it's rmdir. By manually he probably means just deleting them by point and click.

If you do "rpmbuild --rebuild foo.src.rpm", it will compile, build, install, and clean the stuff automatically.
