How to install Koffice ?

I've downloaded the following files in Mandrake Linux 10.0

koffice-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm*
libkoffice2-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm*
libkoffice2-devel-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm*

When I type
rpm -Uvh koffice-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm

I got the following message
error: Failed dependencies:
libkoffice2 = 11:1.3.2-1mdk is needed by koffice-1.3.2-1mdk
When software I missed ?

Thank you !

try to install libkoffice2-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm first (then libkoffice2-devel-1.3.2-1mdk.i586.rpm and then Koffice2), cuz Koffice need those libraries.

I'd suggest using APT or YUM to install Koffice. It should take care of dependencies automatically.

error: cannot open lock file ///var/lib/rpm/RPMLOCK in exclusive mode
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

What 's the next step then ?

When u r stuck search Google. See what I found:

The message

"error: cannot open lock file ///var/lib/rpm/RPMLOCK in exclusive mode" &
"error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm,"

is due to the fact that the Packages database is locked.

To unlock the database you should delete it and then rebuild the database using the rpm --rebuilddb (all these as root).

After this you may install the package as a user with rpm -i without problems.

Note: Deleting is possible by selecting the package in Remove Package in Mandrake Control Center and by unselecting it in Redhat Add/Remove Application (if I remember correctly). Or else u can use the command rpm -e koffice. Do man rpm to learn more on rpm switches.

The problem is that Mandrake Linux 10.0 official contains only 3 disc, so I was asked to insert disk 4 when I install from control panel, but I don't have disc 4 !
