how to detect a printer connections in C++

A pleasant day!
I need to know what C++ functions/codes to use on my program in detecting if the parallel printer (lp0/lp1)(EPSON/STAR-these two printers are for receipt printing) is on or off.

Example:
we assume here the printer is connected locally.
if(it is turned ON)
it will return 1
else if(it is turned OFF)
it will return 0
else
there is no printer connected on the unit

thank you very much!
please reply asap.

Hi and welcome to LQ, unfortunately I have no experience with c++, so I can't help you there. But I thought I might be able to give you some advice on posting on LQ before the moderators come through.

If you need help with coding, please post the code that you are currently try to get to work, and any of the errors that occur when you are running it. While everyone here loves to lend a hand, we are not here to do your homework for you, defeats the purpose of learning.

It is considered rude to ask for something to be done straight away, everyone here who takes part in this forum, are doing so voluntarily, and have our own lives to live, and with a forum as busy as this, it can take days for anyone to reply
