If u do it in the script set a flag so u can easily cange.

bug = true

if bug then echo blabla

Do you mean debug or bug? If you mean debug, I know your option (just like Debug version software and Release version software). But if you mean bug, I am wondering how do you know when there is a bug in shell script.

debug vs bug: You can use any string you like, as long as it doesn't already appear in the code; 'debug' is just a convention...
