How to create own Mousecursors?

I wanna make my own mousecursor (or let's say no mousecursor at all, hiding with unclutter didn't work).
Just one pixel or transparent ... but which tools do i need? Or does someone already have such a 'theme'?

thanks ... man page was a bit confusing, but now i can see my invisible cursor

where do i have to set the new cursor theme?
i use /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/default/index.theme

it seems to work till the screen turns black (screensaver), after that i have the default big black X in the middle of my screen ...

where is the default cursor theme (with my lovely big black X) located?
