How to configure Software RAID 10 on linux

Hi,

I am an Oracle DBA and would like to try the feature of oracle called sync-split.

For that i need to know how to configure the RAID 10 (software).

Kindly guide me in how to configure RAID 10 on linux, any articles, or documents would be appreciated.

Hi,

the tool is called "mdadm", and it work like this:

mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda2 /dev/sdb2

this will create some devices in /dev/md*

you might also want to use LVM (logical volume management) on top of your software raid and use the advanved partitionning sheme (one partition per / folder except etc,bin,root and sbin) so you could gain greater security and stability
