How do I salvage my journals from KOrganizer?

KMail, Kontact, and Korganizer (all 4.8) have been crashing on me so often that I have actually moved completely away from the KDE desktop and reverted back to a clean install of Linux Mint 12 Gnome. I need my journal entries, however, from the Korganizer .ics file. So far, nothing I have found will let me get at them in any kind of usable form.

I even tried the icalx website, but there is no way to even upload anything there. All I could do was create a username and password. That's it!

So any help that y'all can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is an application named strings which you may already have installed. It's a command line tool. It can be used to see text strings in binary files, among others. I just tried it on my korganizer .ics. It shows me the settings for each file, as well as the journal entries. Try it.

strings /path/to/<filename>.ics
