how do i get the downloaded vlc packages for re installation.
hi all,
I downloaded and installed videolan via yum, so i want to get the installation files and their dependencies so that i can reinstall them on another box without having to reinvent the wheel. how can i do this please?
the two systems may or may not be the same, so maybe there were other dependencies also. Better to repeat that install process again.
The two systems are the same, fedora core 13. I can redo the process but i also want to learn how to.

The files might still be in your yum cache. Head on over to /var/cache/yum and explore the subdirectories.

Actually these files are not in the yum cache, /var/cache/yum so a friend told me to download and use repmrebuild which an allow me to rebuild installed files. how does this work?

That's going to be a whole lot of pain for a newbie. Although if you really want to try it might be worth the learning experience!
You'll have to install rpmbuild to your system if it's not already installed.
Here's a link to it's man page; http://www.rpm.org/max-rpm-snapshot/rpmbuild.8.html
