Question How did the Linux exFAT driver change after Microsoft open-sourced it?

As far as I am aware, exFAT was implemented in Linux through reverse-engineering before Microsoft generously open-sourced it in 2019. The SANS institute did lots of that reverse-engineering.

Before 2019, exFAT on Linux was already stable.

How was the exFAT driver on Linux improved in 2019?

(I could study the code of the file system driver, but it would take hours to understand, so I ask here hoping someone already has the knowledge.)

It may very well be turned into open source, but there are probably a lot of legal limitations on how that code can be used.
