Try this out

rpm -V package_name

Ex:
rpm -V binutils

Suppose you see the exe /bin/mount behaving strange ans want to check it has been tampered with ,first find out the corresponding RPM

rpm -qif /bin/mount

Then do a verification using

rpm -V util-linux

The verification command will tell you if the file size,checksum,permission etc has been changed after installation.
This is not the best way ,but is useful for first level check.

Also check for some stray processes in the system using
$ ps -ef

I had faced an issue with linux virus and when doing a ps -ef there were a lot of <defunct> processes.
But that was 7.2 linux and sendmail was exploited there to get into the system.

To remove a virus should be tedious by hand.
But virii in linux is very rare.
