Help with mentally challanged copy of SuSE 8.2

I installed SuSE put in my network info (see below for info) (i recive internet though my network). I boot into SuSE and try to browse the web... nothing. I leave it alone come back to it the net day and WOW it works! I'm browsing and then halfway though it cuts out. No internet. I restart, nothing more (recognises eth0 at boot). After a few more days and no change i decide to re-install and see if theirs change, sure enough it does, same as last time, it cuts out. I have set-up this same system previously with both red-hat and mandrake and both worked with the same settings. Although i have the feeling that it may have something to do with the Search Domain, Domain Name and Host Name, fields that were not present in Red Hat or Mandrake. What are these and is it possible to find out what is supposed to go in them from a Win XP system? Am i missing any info and if so where should i put it?
Any ideas or help

Thanks
Lotmr
