HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Windows dual boot with fedora core 5
hi im having BIG probs with my dual boot i tried to install fedora core 5 on my allredy windows pc it sayd the cd was currupt so i retry and wipe cd clean with shirt. never installd so i try to start my windows and it just dysplayes a whole bunch of "99"'s like all over the screen
someone please help me get my windows to boot
oh btw i am a compleat N OOOOOO B to linux so please help me fix this
The only time I've seen an error like that is when the hard drive was failing on my in-laws machine.
The first thing I would do is try to hit F8 during the boot process to see if you can get the Windows Menu and select "Safe Mode". If that works, then maybe it'll all be okay, but I'm skeptical...
If you have a Knoppix CD, try booting that and see if you can mount the hard disk. If it fails to mount, chances are the disk is failing...
Additionally, you can try to use your Windows CD to repair the install. I've never tried this, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't overwrite any data as long as you only select the "repair" option.
thank you soooooo much i will try f8 but the problem is that i dont have koppix/windows cd anymore oh well i have a whole big windows backup on my external so i can allways relode the info if f8 dosent work and i need to buy a new hd
We're going to need a bit more info if we can get anything to work.
the computer shouldn't be messed up unless you tried to install anything.
if the install failed, nothing should have been installed.
It will also help us, as readers, to understand what you are trying to do if you use proper grammar and axe the run-on sentences. It might help us undertsand your point.

That happen to my brother when he try to dual boot XP and kubuntu......
kubuntu didnt like XP it wanted to del the partition and install by itself..
So he cancel the install just in time "or so he thought" and when he booted back to windows he got all of the 99 and little smile faces and all kinds of garble every where... I told him to go in to safe mode and reinstall the vid card driver and worked... Try that out...
