where do i get C compiler?


When i try to compile a program it says i dont have a C compiler. Im on basically redhat. I go to add the development tools and it says the package is not there?

I mean do i put in the cd? and how do i go about adding that?

Well yes and no. If you have an installation cd you can put that in and try to add the development packages. It should install them. If not you are going to have to reinstall the distro and add the development packages on install. Im not familiar with the version of RedHat that you have posted in your info. WHat is that? Does it look similar to Fedora Core?

Help krb5-libs

Basically whenever i try to install a c compiler in add applications in redhat i get
krb5-libs krb5-workstation,1.3.4,17

that package says its not found?

How do i install it from the cd?

or what am i doing wrong in general?

Does RHEL have the updater "yum"? If so then you can try installing stuff with:
Code:
yum install gcc
or whatever package you want to install.

(P.S. You might also have "up2date", which sucks but you can use the equivalent "up2date gcc".)
