I've been able to use Live CD's without any problems in the past (Mepis, Knoppox). Since I'll be taking a class in college using Fedora Core I decided to try the FC-6-i386 Live CD.
I can't get it to work. During Boot-up, I get to the part where it says, "Uncompressing Linux.....OK! Booting the Kernel." Then is stops. Doesn't do anything. It's not frozen, just doens't do anything else.
I tried Ubuntu 6.10 Live CD. It goes through all the boot up stuff and gets to, "[DR-DOS] A:\>" with the cousor blinking. What could be wrong? Anybody heard of problems like this?
Mepis Live CD worked OK. Why don't these distros? Thank you,
Chris.

You have burned the disk wrong. [DR-DOS] A:\> is a DOS prompt! You want linux.
You will have downloaded an iso file ending in .iso
You must burn this as an iso image. Most burning programs (even in windows) have this option.
Please try again.
I just tried a Knoppix 3.3 CD I burned a couple years a go. It got to boot up and the screen went blank also.
I have a Asus Radon 128mb video card. One goes to my monitor, the other goes to my TV. I have a TV tuner card that I record from. I watch it on my TV. The Knoppix 3.3 CD booted up on my TV screen but not on my computer screen.
I burned all my Cd's in the disc image mode. Chris.
Sounds like an X-server issue to me. Often older PC's have problems using a live CD. I can't get Knoppix 5.0.1 to boot up on an Intel 810-based board to save my life, which makes no sense to me...
