I have a linux box with linux 7.1 harddisk, on a p4 system with 2.4gh processor ,
i have already 20gb hardisk, i have added another 200 gb harddisk,
when i created an partition on 200gb harddisk taking all the space, it is showing 126gb only,
for Redhat Linux 7.1 is there any limitation , if it is then what is the maximum hardisk size it will detect..
This sounds like it may be a problem in the BIOS setup. Have a look at the size reported in the BIOS. I have seen this problem many times over the years. Some BIOS's will report the wrong size. This is fixed with a flash of the BIOS. You get the flash file from the system board maker.
The only other thing that comes to mind, you said Linux 7.1. What distro? 7.1 on some distros is quite old, so you may think of a newer version of your favorite.
i have checked in bios, it is showing 200gb in bios, but not showing same after doing partitioning,
it is showing 126gb only, after partitioning, i am using Redhat linux 7.1 with kernel version 2.4.2-2
I the value is changing in BIOS, this is a BIOS issue, not linux. ie 200 gb before partitioning, 126 gb after partitioning. Do you know the BIOS maker? level etc? What type of drive is it?
