h144 login message

After software update and a Suse 10.0 image run. Following restart got the information screen with the message "h144 login:"
Whatever I try, either root or screen login, nothing seems to work except for an annoying message "Have a lot of fun".
Anuone out there with knowledge how to open or access my Suse 10.0 program with Gnome desktop.
Thanks.

i think this is the time you are logged in and you can star giving commands. if you want to know the command to start the x server manually, it's startx
then your default (usually kde) window manager will start.

you could allso try init 5 to get a gui, this should allso make an x-server start on your local system.

then simply alt+crtl+f7 and you are in your X.

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, but it is not working for me, either the username, or password, or both, are not recognised.

Strange, because I thought that a "Root" user name and password where be able to give me access, but apparently not.

login problems

Thanks Shlinux, but no luck. I am afraid that I have to do a re-install.
Ironically I am communicating through my Windows XP program to get a Linux problem solved.
