Unhappy gui auto starting after boot.


After installing fedora core 2, KDE is automaticaly starting.
I do not want that, i want the text mode login.
I don't know where KDE is being autostarted.
Can YOU tell me ?

Edit /etc/inittab so the first line after the comments will read like this:

id:3:initdefault:

Restart the machine. You should now see the text mode prompt.

this can be different on the various distributions.

in general: programs (daemons) will be started when entering a runlevel. you can control when a service get's started/stopped by entries (usualy links) in the /etc/something_rc ..see "man init".

be careful when editing such basic configuration files. there are some tools doing those changes for you and some will give you a graphical interface too. rcconf.

is it really "kde"? or is it "kdm" running? ps aux will tell.
