gtk not found when compiling gxine

i am trying to install gxine-0.3.3 and when i do ./configure

i get the fallowing error message

checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for glib-2.0 >= 2.0.0... yes
checking GLIB2_CFLAGS... -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include
checking GLIB2_LIBS... -lglib-2.0
checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found

configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

can somone help me?? i downloaded n installed the file before without any trouble but it seems this is not having it

and gtk is installed!

You need the matching development package for gtk, probably called the same as your gtk package but with -devel tacked on at the end. Something like gtk-blahblah-devel.i386.rpm.

Oh, did you build it from source? Sorry, I just assumed you're using rpm's like the majority.

If you have locally built GTK packages and you didn't specify a prefix when you configured them you will most likely find them in /usr/local/lib. So try running the configure script as PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:/usr/local/lib:/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig ./configure
