gsm-utils and gsmsmsd

Hello

This concerns gsmsmsd which is part of the gsm-utils package, all other parts of gsm-utils seem to work.

The version pf gwm-uitils in question is version 1.10.
The platform is rapberrypi (Debian GNU/Linux wheezy/sidi) AND and normal PC running Ubuntu 9.04.
The GSM phone in question is a Motorola L6.

When ever I try to run gsmsmsd it fails telling me: "try setting sms_type, please refer to gsmsmsd manpage" .

All other parameters refered to on the man page are set following a hyphen switch: eg. [-a action ] [ --action action ] [ -b baudrate ] [ --baudrate baudrate ] [ -c concatenatedID ] ... etc ... sms-type is simply surrounded by curly brackets.

Without wanting to be a comlete noob ... Can anyone tell me how to set the sms_type ?

Thanks

Chris

How are you calling gsmsmsd?

Have you tried:
Code:
gsmsmsd -d /dev/ttyS2 -b 19200 -a "mail smsadmin"

gsm-utils and gsmsmsd

Thanks

Yes I did try that (it's the example given in the man page). I guess my problem is that I don't know how to read the man page. There is a parameter to be set called sms_type, In the man page it is noted in curly brackets. As I said in my original post the command fails telling me to "try setting sms_type" . Normal command line parameters are set following a hyphen and the switch then the parameter. I have no idea how one "sets the sms_type".
