Grub fails to install on Debian

I'm trying to install Debian SID from a network install disk. Everything goes fine until it's time for the Grub installation.

OK, seems normal so far. I usually turn down Grub 2 anyway.

OK, this is new. I'm not sure what belongs here.

Still new, but I'm assuming this is just for extra options...

So wait... Even though I turned down Grub 2, I am now forced to upgrade???

Moving on... Seems straight forward...

Epic fail on Grub installation... Wonder if it has anything to do with that empty line pictured in snapshot 2...

Anyone have any idea what's going on here, or how to fix it?

Hya,

What kind of error message do you get?

Is your target disk bootable?

Happy Penguins!

Target disk is bootable, only error I get is:
Unable to configure GRUB
Executing 'update-grub' failed.
This is a fatal error.

It seems that grub does save to the MBR, but fails to create a configuration file to use. After I manually created one, grub works...
