good text editor

Ok i like to use gedit when writing html code because of its highlitghing and the tabs for choosing different files when you have more than one open, but i find it to be unbelievably slow sometimes, which is not cool considering it is just a simple text editor. can anyone recommend a good graphical text editor that has the tabs to choose between files and highlites the syntax? thanks!

You could always get something like bluefish or quanta to do html editing, etc.

I personally edit alot of my pages using simply vi

it sucks cause thats your personal preference ...
but, something similiar to gedit that i can think of is Kate .. a few more features, but to me still simplistic ...
but i would still recommend vi(m)
