Gimp freezes momentarily when I use a tool...

Hi,

I have absolutely no idea how this problem started, because I can't actually remember doing anything major that could have changed it. Every other time I use a tool in the GIMP, the program freezes momentarily for anywhere between 1 and 10+ seconds. Once it's going again, I get a straight line no matter what shape I attempted to make with the tool. I've tried downgrading my nvidia drivers from 6111 to 6106, I've tried fiddling with the cache sizes in the GIMP, I've tried updating the GIMP from 2.0.0 to 2.0.4, I've even tried completely removing my ~/.gimp-2.0 folder and starting anew, but the problem still remains. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here?

Thanks,

- I
