I am configuring the gallery package in my Debian.
There is a requirement that:
The PHP need to support the "gettext".

Create a file called, say, info.php and put this into it:
Code:
<?php
    phpinfo();
?>
Put it somewhere accessible through your web server and check the output. If it has gettext support you will see something like this a bit down on the page:
Quote:
GetText Support enabled
