The prerequisite for running GenJ on your operating system is a Java Virtual Machine version 1.6 or higher, available for

Windows, Linux, Solaris
Mac OS X 10.51)
Source: http://genj.sourceforge.net/
Is this what you're referring to? I don't see it as a package but you can download it from sourceforge.

I installed Gramps but then uninstalled it as I thought it too complicated. It is available in my Linux mint distro and I could install it anytime if I change my mind.
Thanks for your answer but I am really interested in finding out about GenJ.

Thank you for your response but I am really interested in a user opinion of the program and would really appreciate comments in that vein.
Many thanks anyway

I've been using Genj for more than ten years and I am very satisfied with its features.

Currently running the three years old unstable version 6755 which is very stable for me.
