Geeqie - Save rating

Hi,

I use Geeqie for culling my photos (another other suggestion?). I give the photos ratings with the number keys. It works fine, until I close the app. Then all ratings are gone.
How can I save the ratings?

Unter the menu "Edit" I can see "Save Metadata CTRL+S" but it is greyed out. In the settings are also a few entries about how to save metadata. I tried out all of them, but it does not help, the ratings are never saved.

My photos are just copies from camera to harddrive with Rapid Photo Downloader.

Thank you for your help!

Those are not ratings, they are "marks". I use them when sorting through photos, for example to find the best ones to keep. There is no way to save them when you close geeqie, as you found. If you are looking for something you can use to rate your photos, you will need to find another tool, perhaps one that can modify and save the EXIF code for 'rating' in the JPEG file.

So sad :-(
I switched from Windows to Linux and try to find a way to replace Lightroom, but it seems to be really difficult. At the moment I have Rapid Photo Downloader, Geeqie and Darktable. But if I can not use marks/ratings with Geeqie, then I will probably have to find something else. Though I like how fast it is and also the option to compare photos is essential for culling.
