Geany Highlighted Text Line Count

Hello - I'm running Geany v1.23.1 on Xubuntu 14.04 x64 and wish to determine how get a line count for highlighted text.

Sometimes in the bottom status bar the third property field from the left does display the line count such as -

sel:10

To indicate 10 lines have been highlighted, but this doesn't work most of the time.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Editor -> Check?

No joy.

Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Editor > has fonts set to Monospace.

There is no obvious setting missing.

i don't think geany has that option.

the "sel:nn" displays characters selected, not lines.

a simple workaround:
after selecting somethig, hold down the ctrl key and press C,N,V
then take note of the line numbers.
then, still holding down ctrl, press Z,W
