gdlib php

hi all

for some reason, when we installed php on one of our servers
4.3.9 on rh el3 it didn't come with gd2

it only installed with gd 1.6.2 or higher (according to the phpinfo page)
when i run up2date it shows gd 1.84 and says i already have that

i have downloaded the gd src tar.gz file

if i run ./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install

should i have any issues/conflicts with php and the old version of gd

do i need to remove the gd library package already installed before installing this one from src?

our php configure line has this
--with-gd=/usr

will we need to recompile php to get this working, i'm pretty sure that we installed php with shared libraries?

i just need to use this with php to access some of the newer functions

thanks
dave
