gdebi troubles: doesn't install anything..

Hello
in my new Lenny installation gdebi shows a curious behaviour.
After a couple of days it worked fine, now i can't install anything
Whatever i try to install i get an installation failed and if i look into the terminal i see it fails when trying to read the database...
Is there something i can do to reset it?
dpkg works perfectly but gdebi is totally useless..
purging and reinstalling doesn't work, aptitude, apt-get work perfectly, synaptic too, i don't see why gdebi can't work..
Anything i can do?

Strange.
You shouldn't have gdebi in Lenny at all.
It's still in Sid (unstable) and very buggy.

yes i installed some time ago, but it was not a nice idea..
i should have upgraded then forgot to check it was still working
